The
cross-country season has seen encouraging performances from all age groups and
some stand-out performances to be recognised.
For the
Junior Team, opportunities have been restricted but 3rd place at
Charthouse was a great start and the Year 7 team won their age group at the
Sutton Borough Championships – something we have not done in many years. The
Junior Knole run saw the A Team finish in an notable 12th place.
Impressing hugely have been Chris Finch, Harrison Hayman and Oliver Anstee from
year 7 whilst Zack Johnson-Alleyne and Emmanuel Victor continue to progress
strongly in Year 8.
The Inters is
a very strong age group, they won their race at Lancing College and came third
at the Sutton Boroughs. Also Consistent in League fixtures the standout
performers have been Ebuka, Paul Hewitt, Matt Conway, Alfie Smith and Joseph
Roberts
The Seniors
have continued to impress, competing against the very best in the country
regularly and with runners regularly picked from younger age groups including
as young as Year 8. Second place at Charterhouse was followed by once again
winning the Sutton Boroughs, third at Hampton and a close second at Lancing.
Ercolano, Jones and Tambling have been ever consistent, but praise must be
given to Freddy Georgiou from year 10 who has proved himself the best
Cross-Country runner in the school with his fantastic performances against
runners 3 times older than him.
Well done to
all the runners, those mentioned today and those regulars who were not. Next
term will see more fixtures including the 2 National Senior Events and John
Fisher will be aiming to sustain their outstanding reputation at that level.
