This weekend sees a gap in the fixture list, but I would urge all runners to take the chance to go on a training run themselves
Next Wednesday sees the Seniors run the challenging 4.5miles King's College Course, and next Saturday sees a return to Oxted for a League race

HOME RACE RESULTS!
Our home league fixture saw a gloriously sunny morning
perfect for running. Three local schools were able to attend – Oxted, Trinity
and Tiffin. The junior race was very competitive with 48 runners, many of them
year 7 getting used to race tactics and a distance of up to 2 miles. They
looked very impressive on the start line on the old Croydon airport with
fantastic views out over the London Basin as far as Hampstead Heath. Alfie
Smith led the junior team home to finish in 2nd place, one better
than last week. All our junior runners aquitted themselves well and hopefully
should be feeling a bit fitter now. Well done to Leo Ostinello for being our
first year 7 home in 14th place.
The smaller inter and senior teams started their races
together, but split after 800m to run different distances. Harry Smith ran a
strong race to finish a close 2nd to an impressive Oxted runner.
Most of Harry’s team mates have moved up an age group this year and found the
extra distance challenging so early on in the season. It will get easier lads!
The senior team was a bit depleted as the Galvins are
competing in a tough triathlon this weekend – we hope that it went well,
especially as you know that your level of fitness still has some way to go!
Captain Sean was too ill to run, but gamely turned up to help out at the
finish. Ricky was the first senior in, but would readily admit to being under
no pressure at all and appeared to treat the event as a bit of a training run. We
can’t blame him for doing that. Well done to our new runner Finlay Wells - he should be very pleased with his 3rd
place and will possibly make our A team selection more difficult this year – a
good problem to have! Year 11s Gianluca and Jacob made up the scoring team
today as the senior team remains unbeaten in the league. Keep up the training –
4.5miles over the Kings Trophy course on Oct 5th is a long way if you are not
fit ….
Many thanks to Mr O’Halloran and Francis for haring and
marking the course today and also to Ms Drozd for helping with the timekeeping.

Tiffin Success
Saturday saw a strong JFS XC squad travel to Tiffin for the League race against Oxted and Tiffin themselves.
The day also saw the XC debuts of a number of Year 7 runners, selected after their efforts the previous Friday during games - all acquitted themselves impressively!
With a slightly changed course, Tiffin still remained a flat course with firm footing. With dry and clear weather it was perfect conditions!
A very large junior field of 50+ runners set off on their 2.5km course having received last minute instructions from the Tiffin staff, here are some of the Junior team looking a tad apprehensive but determined to do their best.
John Fisher has a fantastic sporting reputation so congrats to those representing the school for the first time!
A final place of 2nd was secured!
The Inters and Seniors were run together, but confusion at the finis meant that I could not distinguish between the 2 and so final results will come later in the week.
They ran a 3.5km course and below are their finishing positions in the combines race, Inters and Seniors, and their times
Obviously this table has years 9-13 in it, and the Inters are in BOLD
Very well done to Harry who showed the benefit of his summer training, some others need to get some miles in the leg before greater challenges to come
